Global Mission Fund
In accordance with Habitat’s quality assurance guidelines, all domestic Habitat affiliates agree to participate in a tithing partnership with an international affiliate of their choice. The South Central Minnesota affiliate selected an international tithing community shortly after its founding in 1990.
Our affiliate donates our tithe to Habitat International's Global Mission Fund. This fund is designed to ensure the tithing affiliates do reaches the areas in the world that need it most. The money goes directly to help families in developing countries secure decent shelter.
In 2019, the Global Mission Fund distributed over $2.5 million to 17 countries around the world, such as Bangladesh, Kenya, and Tanzania.
Since launching the partnership in 1990, the affiliate has been able to contribute over $300,000 to the Tanzania affiliate specifically and, more recently, the Global Mission Fund. Last fiscal year alone we tithed over $6800. This money has assisted 107 families in need of simple, decent and affordable housing.
Habitat for Humanity of South Central Minnesota looks forward to further fighting poverty by building sustainable homes, communities and hope on a global scale, as well as locally.
